Hi Everybody! Let me share with you some exercises i´ve put together...



Negative forms of the verb to be - exercise

Complete the gaps with the negative forms of the verb to be.

Example: She ______________ from France.

  1. This book ______________ mine.
  2. Jane and Peter ______________ married.
  3. That ______________ right.
  4. My brother ______________ here at the moment.
  5. We ______________ in England.
  6. It ______________ Monday today.
  7. Jennie's surname ______________ Peters.
  8. I ______________ a hairdresser.
  9. My name ______________ Alexander.
  10. There ______________ many people in this class.



Negative forms of the verb to be - more practice

Make the positive sentences negatives.


  1. This exercise is difficult.

  2. We're from Spain.

  3. My grandmother's name's Adelaide.

  4. The kids are in the garden.

  5. You're English.

  6. My car is very expensive.

  7. This is my student's notebook.

  8. These photographs are very nice.

  9. Alex is twenty-five years old.

  10. I'm fine.

Complete the sentences. Use a negative form of 'to be'.


Example: That house ... very big.


                That house isn't very big.

2. They _____________ ready to go yet.

3. It _____________ very sunny outside.

4. We _____________ at school today.

5. I _____________ on the phone.

6. Mr Sebel _____________ in the classroom.

13. You _____________ at the schoolparty yet.

Complete with the verb to BE negative ('m not / isn't / aren't)

- It  ________________  ten o’clock.

- It ________________  five o'clock yet.
- The dog ________________  black.
- Jim ________________  busy now.
